Dr. William E. Kunz is President of W E K Technologies, Inc., a California Corporation specializing in technologies management and investments. He also serves as a consultant to senior-level industry and government clients and is an advisor to small entreprenurial start-ups.
He holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
From 1998 until 2009, he served as the Executive Vice President of Regal Electronics, Inc., of Sunnyvale CA, and has held positions of President, COO, CEO, and Director of Mountain Network Solutions, Inc., a developer and producer of award winning computer peripheral and software solutions for small- to-medium-sized PC networks. He completed four years service with Mountain in 1995.
He is a former Vice President of Watkins Johnson Company's Systems Group, completing twenty five years with W J in 1989.
At W J he held technical design and management positions related to the development and manufacture of electronic systems and RF and microwave products for electronic warfare signals location and analysis, communications, reconnaissance, surveillance, telemetry, frequency measurement, space communications and test equipment.
In this capacity, he was responsible for more than 1300 employees producing over $115 million in annual revenues from facilities in Palo Alto and San Jose, California; Gaithersburg and Savage, Maryland; and Wake County, North Carolina. Previously he served as VP and Manager, CEI Division (Communication Electronics, Inc.); Manager, Solid State Division; Manager, Space Communications & Telemetry Department; and Head, Electro Optical Section.
Dr. Kunz has served on the Board of Directors of Mountain Network Solutions (formerly Mountain Computer) and is a past Director of TM Digital Solutions, Inc., and of X Ray Technologies, Inc., now a part of Oxford Industries, Ltd.
He has also been a member of the NSA Scientific Advisory Board and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Electronic Defense and has served on the Technical Committee and the National Security Affairs Committee for Electronic Warfare.
In 1992 he received the Alumni Honor Award for Distinguished Service in Engineering by the College of Engineering, University of Illinois, Urbana.
He has completed the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program for Smaller Companies in 1983. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Illinois in November 1981. He is a licensed amateur radio operator (KE6TLK).
He has been elected to Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, Sigma Tau, Phi Eta Sigma, and Sigma Xi technical honor societies.
